April 2008:  Tia has had an outstanding year in 2007, and started out the same way in 2008 on the agility scene, earning more titles and completing at the National level and doing very well.  Congratulations to Marlene on her success with this beautiful Raven daughter - who Marlene has also kept in show coat during these years of competition.  Tia is going to be bred to an outstanding male approximately August of 2008 for a black/brown litter.  Marlene will be taking the reservations on this litter.  Please contact us for the info.  There are already a number of deposits for agility pups from this outstanding expected litter, however Marlene could also use some deposits for all-around family dogs or for service and therapy dogs as there are always some of each available in poodle litters when the temperament testing is completed.

Dec 2007:  "Tia" is still in show coat, still doing agility, and is working toward her Mock title in agility.  She has earned enough points that Marlene will be travelling to the National Agility Competition in March of 2008.  She is absolutely beautiful to watch, but you don't dare bllink or you'll miss seeing her.  She is beating Border Collies and Whippets for time, and absolutely loves to compete.  She also keeps Marlene on her toes.  We've seen her purposefully pull some stunts in the agility ring - she loves to get a laugh out of the spectators - like going back and forth through the tunnel several times.  Marlene is going to try to get me some agility photos to post.  Check out some of the agility shots on mother Valentine by pressing Val's button below to connect to her page.  Marlene is tentatively planning on breeding Tia in late Fall 2008 or Spring 2009.  The breeding may be to "Kit", although we are checking out other brown studs on the West Coast.  Marlene may be up to show at Rose City Classic in Portland, OR again this January 2009 - in both agility (if Tia isn't in heat) and conformation.

July 2007:  "Tia" is a beautiful Raven daughter owned by Marlene Jurkovich and out of Marlene's "Valentine".  Marlene is not only showing "Tia" in conformation, and keeping her in coat, but is also showing her in Agility Competition.  "Tia" is a fantastic competitor amazing all who watch her.  She has now competed in Rose City Classic Agility and Conformation two years in a row.

Falcon was lost in early Fall 2007 - with Kidney damage - suspected later from the dog foods that were being recalled, as we had him on a variety of organic dog food that was on the recall for the rice gluten from China.  We mourned his loss deeply, after days of IV's and trying to give him a chance to survive.  He passed just a 2 months before his 2nd birthday.  The recalls didn't start until Feb 2007, but the products dated back as far as late 2005 for production dates.  At first JRD was suspected, however in 15 years of breeding we had never had a case, nor was it usual to appear in dogs that were already almost fully grown, being a juvenile condition.  Many of his symptoms did not appear to be JRD associated, and we were are bewildered, including vet specialist that was contacted.  It's was months later that we began to suspect the recalled dog foods, when they included those with rice gluten.  We have gone back to making all of our own soft foods due to the loss of Falcon, and the loss of Heidi's litter.  It's really hard when you can't trust what you buy for your animals or for your family.

"FALCON"

Pictured at 5 months at International Show in Albany, OR April 2005 - not the best as he didn't want to pose.

In Memory:  September 28th, 2004 to July 22nd, 2006

Junior International Champion Friendships Ravens Falcon is a gorgeous black male pup who we had planned on keeping in coat and continuing to show on both the International and AKC show circuits.  However, "Falcon" absolutely loves water, so off has come the coat.  We refuse to crate our poodles that are showing here on the farm.  We allow them their play time and family time and chore time, and just spend a whole lot more time in grooming.  "Falcon" will be shown in either the historically correct continental or in a sporting trim when we bring him back into the International Show ring for his adult title.  That way he can be happy playing in water, and I can save a lot of frustrationf for both of us and for daughter Mishelle who does our show grooming.  "Falcon" has a wonderful warm loving disposition, and is a tribute to his dam and sire.

A summary of "Falcon's" critiques at the age of 5 months from the International Show April 2005 at Albany, OR is as follows:

Judgement:  A very nice boy, nice outline, balance and proportion, promising puppy, well groomed.

1.)  Overall Impression:  Good attitude, showy, well presented, nice outline.

2.)  Coat:  Puppyish, excellent texture, good, proper for age.

3.)  Head:  Nice, nicely shaped, nice expression, nice head and expression.

4.)  Bite, mouth:  Good, good dentition, correct, scissors.

5.)  Eyes:  Pretty, alert, expressive, good, proper shape and color.

6.)  Ears:  Good, well set and used, nice, correct set.

7.)  Chest:  Puppyish, good development, good depth, proper depth.

8.)  Front Angulation:  Okay, well assembled, would like more layback, good.

9.)  Back Angulation:  Okay, good muscle tone, very nice, good.

10.) Top line:  Okay for age, strong and firm, strong, good.

11.) Tail:  Could use better, good carriage, good set, high set tail.

12.) Movement:  Pretty good, nice action, more drive than reach, good movement.
